With an eye for both the obvious and hidden beauty of her chosen subjects, Gail Salituri has established herself as one of California's rising artists. Working exclusively in oils, she superbly depicts many of the Golden State's natural, cultural and architectural treasures. Missions, courtyards, gardens, vineyards and wineries are among her many specialties. Each one reflects her artistic vision, as well as a love and appreciation of beautiful places and scenes she wishes to share. Her enchanting scenes are vibrant in color, yet serene in their peacefulness, a combination that has won her increasing notice and acclaim in the art world.
Gail's artistic eye was developed at an early age. "I recall seeing things differently as a child," she says. "Everything I viewed was a work of art. I knew then that there was a creative spirit within me, and I enjoyed producing any and all forms of art. I became quite aware of this talent and wanted to pursue it more."
Salituri's academic studies culminated in an Associate of arts degree in 1971. As she was learning her craft, she also studied and painted under the direction of noted artists, including E. John Robinson, Edgardo Garcia and Rom Villa. More recently, she has been a teacher of painting herself. Her certification as an Accredited Fine Arts judge for the California State Fair system testifies to her expertise, and she has won numerous awards over the years.
Working from her Northern California home, Gail continues to work on a series of paintings depicting California's lake and wine country, which includes scenes of landscapes, wineries and the distinctive missions and courtyards she finds especially appealing.
In addition to producing new works for gallery presentation, Salituri accepts a limited number of commissions for individuals, businesses and organizations. Owning a beautiful Salituri painting is a joy in itself, but also a way for discriminating collectors to add works of this increasingly popular artist to their portfolio.
Gail Salituri is a Signature Member of AAWA.
